UPS paid tribute to Ecuadorian Pasillo music

On Friday October 23rd, UPS- Cuenca held the II National Music Festival- A Tribute to Ecuadorian Pasillo. 

UPS President Javier Herran was the first up on stage, he thanked everyone for attending and especially thanked those who sang that night. Cesar Vasquez, UPS-Cuenca Vice President highlighted the importance of having events like these in order to keep our music traditions alive. 

The first group on stage was Profecia and their singer Veronica Goyo who sang Tu partida, Sendas distintas, Rosario de besos and Chola Cuencana.

Next up on stage was a young singer named Shellmy. She sang Tú y yo, Invernal and Alma en los labios. She was accompanied by pianist Luis Arindia. Third came two little girls Dayana Benalcazar, 8, and Samantha Cordero, 9, who make up the Andinito duo. They sang Faltándome tú, Vamos linda and Playas del adiós, the audience loved their performance and gave them a standing ovation. 

Dayanna Arcentales, 11, was the next singer on stage. She sang Cantares del alma, Horas de pasión and Así se goza. And before the final presentation, UPS professor Andrea Cherrez sang Despedida, El aguacate and Corazón que no olvida, it was her debut singing pasillos. 

Finally, to close the cultural event, Mónica Mendieta, singer of the La Familia music group sang Un triste despertar, No te podré olvidar and Dolencia.
