Mónica Huerta, Giovanni Sagbay and Ángel Soto, UPS –Cuenca electronic engineering professors attended the "IEEE International Symposium on Systems Engineering (ISSE 2015)" which took place on the 29th and 30th of September at the Rome Marriott Park Hotel in Rome, Italy.

They presented the paper "Analysis of the corporal movement alterations using a 3D body tracking sensor". Professor Giovanni Sagbay presented the paper and explained the research being carried out at UPS which will help doctors with the diagnosis of movement alterations.

The system has four phases: Acquisition of body movement with the Kinect sensor, extraction of particular characteristics in the scene captured by the Kinect sensor, skeletal recognition and processing of the acquired data. The system has the ability to generate graphs to detect abnormalities of posture and other movement disorders.

Representatives from several universities attended this international meeting to present scientific research being carried out by their master's or doctoral students. UPS professors said this event helped them learn about the scientific advances field of engineering being carried out at several universities.
