UPS and Cambridge University Press signed an interinstitutional cooperation agreement that will benefit both higher education institutions, but mainly UPS students.

The signing of the agreement, which will improve English learning for students and professors at the university, took place in the University President's office with Father Javier Herran, UPS President, Luis Eduardo Chavez, Cambridge University representative, and Susana Castro, UPS-Cuenca English language institute director.

One of the university's priorities is to encourage everyone at the university to learn English, "we intend our students to have an acceptable English level halfway through their studies and have a certificate to prove it". The aim is for students to graduate with a B2 English level.

The Cambridge representative said he pleased to sign this agreement, "we thank the University for trusting us and we hope to fulfill our objectives together". He added that UPS is the first university to sign the Cambridge English Pathways agreement, whose aim is to

  • Turn the university into an official Cambridge Exams Preparation Center, as long as the university meets all the requirements.
  • Have exclusive seminars for teachers given by a Cambridge university press expert
  • Turn the university into a Cambridge examinations center
