"Research in natural cosmetics" Sustainable use of natural resources.

On January 28, Professor and researcher Tatiana Mosquera Tayupanta presented her book titled "La investigación en la cosmética natural" (Research in natural cosmetics). Professor Mosquera teaches in the Natural Resources Biotechnology Faculty and is also the director of the Biodiversity Research Center.

The book is a collection of studies on technology applied to natural resources so its use can be sustainable for the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industry. The aim is also to disseminate knowledge and use of the country's vegetables by incorporating ancestral knowledge.

Some of the university's officials who attended the book launch are: Hernán Hermosa, coordinator of the Abya Yala –UPS publishing house, Diana Calero, director of the biotechnology faculty, Tatiana Mosquera, Paco Noriega, professor, María Fernanda León, director of Procosméticos company and Tamara Bustos, student.

Hernan Hermosa said "Research is a practice that marks the university's identity…" The commentators of the book were Maria Fernanda Leon and Paco Noriega.
Maria Fernanda Leon said the book is a relevant step for future research on natural cosmetics in Ecuador and Paco Noriega highlighted two key issues: Ecuador's potential in the use of medicinal plants and the possibility of making cosmetic products in the country through simple methodologies for natural cosmetics.
