How UPS professors support students with disabilities

UPS professors Miriam Gallegos and Mirian Gallego, members of the inclusive education research group (Grupo de Investigación de Educación Inclusiva (GEI), presented the paper titled "Atención de los docentes universitarios a estudiantes con discapacidad. Caso Universidad Politécnica Salesiana" during the 1st International Congress on Inclusive Education. The congress was held in the city of Portoviejo from the 25 to the 27 of May and organized by Universidad Técnica de Manabí. 

The congress was supported by experts and researchers from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad de Alcalá and Universidad de Granada. The speakers explained how UPS professors help and support students with disabilities in order to guarantee learning and active participation, they also spoke about the difficulties professors face in this process.

The aim of the congress was to exchange knowledge and experience on inclusive education among national and international researchers. To improve quality in education, it is necessary to consider everyone involved in the process.

The congress was attended by representatives from universities in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Spain, Cuba and Ecuador, as well as representatives from SETEDIS and CONADIS.
