UPS took part in a dance festival organized by Cuenca's penitentiary

On October 7th, the university's dance and traditional music groups from Cuenca were invited to perform in the First Folk Dance Festival organized by Cuenca's penitentiary, the festival was held in the penitentiary and attended by the contestants for Miss Cuenca.
The current Miss Cuenca, Tatiana Guillen congratulated the organizers and encouraged them to continue holding these positive events. She also praised the performances by the detainees.
The festival began with the performance of the "Mushuk Pakan" dance group which is made up by inmates; they performed a traditional Ecuadorian dance called "Tucuman". This group seeks to keep traditions of Ecuadorian culture alive. After this group's performance, a group titled "Sinchi Warmikuna", which is made up by women performed another folk dance.
Members of the university's groups said it was a privilege to have performed along with some inmates, who show people that it is possible to overcome difficulties when the aim is to disseminate Ecuadorian art and culture.
