UPS professors and researchers Rene Unda Lara and Daniel Llanos took part in several events during the 2nd Ibero American Bienal on Childhood and Youth titled "Democratic transformations, social justice and processes of peace" which was held in Manizales, Colombia from the 7th to the 11th of November and was attended by about 2000 people.

Research from the university's Childhood, Adolescence and Youth Research Group (CINAJ for its acronym in Spanish) presented the progress and the results on the processes of arranging young people and the participation of students from salesian high schools in Ecuador.

This research, which constitutes a mandate from Salesian Higher Education Institutions, is conducted in coordination with the Salesian Education Council and CONESA. It is about the rights, responsibilities and participation of students from Salesian high schools from different regions, provinces and cities in Ecuador at an urban and rural level.

The results were presented through discussion panels and round tables led by UPS professors.  Rene Unda was invited to participate as a commentator of the collection "Youth and Politics in Argentina", which was led by Pablo Vommaro. The collection is about work possibilities and sociopolitical dynamics.

On November 16, 2016, there was posthumous tribute titled  "Discussion Days" held in Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar to reflect on the thinking of José Sánchez-Parga. The event, organized by Centro Andino de Acción Popular (CAAP), where Unda was a panelist, was attended by 12 invited scholars, who offered different approaches on the work of this author from a philosophical, sociological, anthropological and political perspective.

Sánchez-Parga was a professor of the Master's Degree in Social Policy of Children and Adolescents at UPS, where he produced several research and teaching texts, including "Orfandades infantiles y adolescentes. Introducción a una sociología de la Infancia" (2004, Abya Yala) and several monographs on childhood and adolescence in the magazine Universitas, which he directed until 2012.
