UPS held a new graduation ceremony for 55 students who successfully graduated from education sciences, communication, occupational psychology, accounting, business administration, electronic engineering, automotive engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology, computer engineering and the master's degree in industrial control and automation. The ceremony was held in the university theater and presided by UPS president Javier Herran Gomez, the vice president of the university's branch in Cuenca Cesar Vasquez Vasquez and faculty directors.

Father Javier Herran said: "today you are part of that great numbers of UPS graduates, engineers and bachellors who work for their families, for their business. The time of theoretical concepts is over, it is now time for real practice"

The director of the Education major, Victoria Jara, PhD, said "today you finish a stage of your lives and begin another that also demands knowledge, continuing education. Education is not temporary, it is permanent, it is for life; therefore each day you will learn to learn and be innovative of your own destiny."

Cesar Vasquez, vice president of the university's branch campus in Cuenca, said UPS is committed to educating professionals with competencies and skills that show they are ready to perform and help develop society. "We are glad to have been part of your goal. You are the ones who will practice your profession with social responsibility", he said.

Finally, Monserrath Paucar spoke on behalf of all the graduates by saying that graduation marks the end of one of the most important journeys of their lives. She thanked the graduates' families for having believed in and supported them to finish their studies. To close the ceremony there was a musical presentation by the pianist Fernando Jara, a student majoring in electrical engineering.
