The university's UPS-Cycling Team from Cuenca, made up by students, professors and staff, took part in the 3rd cycling competition titled "Luchar sin competir, compitiendo ya ganamos", a competition organized by the "Mucho Mejor si es hecho en Ecuador" corporation in order to raise funds for a Cancer Foundation (Fundación al Servicio del Enfermo de Cáncer- FASEC and the Tadeo Torres Orphanage. 

10 cyclists from the UPS team competed in the three categories: 90km, 50km and 25km. The team was made up by UPS students Andres Rojas, Jonnatan Carrión, John, Zhumi and Carlos Cajamarca and professors and staff: Gabriela Abad, Wilson Ortiz, Cristian Díaz, Javier Vázquez, Guido Paúl Flores and Marcelo Naranjo.

The 90km race was the most competitive because of the cyclists' level, some are top cyclists with vast experience in this type of competition. The organizers awarded medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Additionally, special prizes were awarded to the  youngest couple, the oldest, the team with the best uniform and the team with the most members. 

The UPS-Cycling Team invites everyone in the university community to join the club and take part in the evening bike rides on Wednesdays at 7:30pm.
