Talk titled "Humanized and / or respected childbirth?"

On July 7th, the university's Continuing Education Center held a talk titled "Humanized and / or respected childbirth?" This topic was chosen due to the little dissemination in the community about a proposal that seeks to generate less painful experiences and where sharing is the backbone between the mother, the father and the baby.
This talk was based on the topic covered during the talk held on April 27th in Quito, where Alicia Chicaiza, specialist in health quality services, spoke about the work carried out by the Ministry of Health with midwives from communities in order to include ancestral knowledge in childbirths.
Freddy Simbaña, UPS researcher, spoke about his research in the field of anthropology and health with Lourdes Lojano, known as the last midwife from the south of Quito. Lourdes is endorsed by the Ministry of Health because her work is part of the cultural and ancestral richness on health conservation.
Daniel Cabascango from Cayambe, has been a midwife for 35 years. He spoke about his experience and said that at the beginning it was hard being accepted as a midwife, since it is something usually women do.
