UPS and the Environmental Management Commission working together
Environmental engineering professors from our branch campus in Cuenca visited the Botanic Garden in order to have a place for students to carry out professional practices.
Tony Vilora, director of the environmental engineering undergraduate program, explained that the aim of the visit was to know the place in person and strengthen ties between both institutions so that students can go there and carry out activities related to environmental engineering.
Through an agreement with the Environmental Management Commission of the Municipality of Cuenca, there will be a process of soil recovery, plant biotechnology, water treatment and biological control of phytopathogenic diseases.
Tony Viloria stressed that one of the characteristics of the Environmental Engineering program is to combine theory with practices in real scenarios, in order to provide society with competitive, creative professionals, trained to develop environmental management systems that comply with ethics and professionalism, parameters dictated by current environmental legislation.
