An online ceremony was held to name the new representatives of the IEEE student branch in our branch campus in Quito. The aim of the IEEE student branch is to strengthen processes of technological innovation and research and promote the active participation of professors and students.

UPS president Juan Cardenas, encouraged the members of this branch to continue their hard work and commitment in order to contribute to society and build a sustainable future". Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito congratulated this student branch for providing innovation to society.

Dario Jaramillo, an advisor of IEEE, explained that they provide tools to complement students' education. "Students are able to acquire leadership, management and community engagement skills in order to work on the development of technology that will benefit mankind" 

During the ceremony, they presented projects and held workshops and conferences. They also raised funds for the Cecilia Rivadeneira Foundation, the electricity workshop in Simiatug, the project titled "Futuros Ingenieros", the management of social projects and conferences for International telecommunication day. 

The ceremony was attended by German Arevalo, director of the telecommunications undergraduate program; Alexander Aguila, director of the electricity undergraduate program; Gustavo Caiza, director of the electronics and automation undergraduate program; Patsy Prieto, director of the computing undergraduate program; and Fabian Narvaez, director of the biomedicine undergraduate program.
