Professors and students attended the "First synergy of engineering"
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) student branch and the Industrial Electronics Society held several conferences and talks during the program titled "First synergy of engineering" that was held in the university's branch in Cuenca. The program was attended by professors and students from the mechatronics engineering major; the NAO robot opened the program by greeting the attendees and calling the university's vice president in Cuenca, Cesar Vasquez, up on stage to welcome the attendees.
The first conference was given by UPS professor John Calle, a member of the Energy Research Group (Grupo de Investigación en Energía GIE). He presented the topic "Automation in industrial processes" and analyzed the work and research done in different industries. He said that several industries have decided to automate their production and take advantage of technological advances. "Today, work is done among several professionals and it is common that mechanical, electrical and electronic engineers work together in the same project".
Professor Leonardo Bueno, who is a member of the Biomedical Research Group, presented the topic "Biomedical engineering at Universidad Politecnica Salesiana". He spoke about the importance of the research being carried out in this field and explained the technological advances and the results of biomedical engineering.
Professor Wilbert Aguilar from Escuela Politecnica del Ejercito and a member of the engineering research group from Universidad de Catalunya, presented the conference: "Advances in control and navigation of unmanned aerial vehicles". He explained the work of drones its importance in research.
Professor Paul Chasi and his student Fernando Pintado made an introduction of the IES Chapter by explaining its operation and work in the field of research. Kevin León and John Romero presented "Acquisition of data using a myoelectric bracelet (MYO)". Santiago Feican and John Arevalo presented the project "Learning sign language through leap motion"
In the closing ceremony Jhon Morales, director of mechatronics, thanked the speakers for their valuable contribution, the university officials for all their support and students from Tecnico Salesiano and other institutions for having attended.
