Karla Balda and Joela Mora, communication students and members of the communication and interculturality research group in our branch campus in Guayaquil, presented a documentary video titled "Artesanos del Mar", which is part of their final graduation project.
The video, made in "La Libertad", in the province of Santa Elena, is about the research of how to build a historical memories of a community.
Joela Mora, one of the producers of the documentary video, said that the aim is to highlight the daily work of fishermen by rescuing the traditions and customs that still remain in each of the families, and for being a productive sector and economic development of the canton Santa Elena.
Javier Herrán, UPS president, said "this is what the university expects from its students, that the techniques they learn in class, helps them personalize and express feelings and the ability to change the world through art."
Andres Bayolo, vice president of our branch campus in Guayaquil, said "it is comforting to know the university focuses on social areas that demonstrate the culture of our country. I congratulate students and professors for leaving a legacy for future generations, promoting culture and showing people what it means to be Ecuadorian".
It is also worth noting that last October students Richard Cortez and Sergio Macancela presented another documentary video on the history of "Quinsaloma - el Benjamin de Los Rios", which describes the changes in the canton from its foundation to present day.
