UPS was awarded several prizes in the IEEE Ecuador ETCM 17

Universidad Politecnica Salesiana took part in the Second IEEE Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting-ETCM'17 that was held in Samborondon and Salinas, Guayas. The ETCM is the most important annual IEEE event in the country and is organized by the Ecuadorian section of technical chapters from the IEEE.

UPS had an outstanding participation during this second edition; researchers presented eleven papers and two were awarded as the best articles. Two papers written by students from the telecommunications and electronic engineering undergraduate programs classified to the finals of the Student Paper Contest, which was won by Gabriela Lissete Carrion Vivar, who is majoring in electronic engineering the university's branch campus in Cuenca.

The awarded papers were:

"Sistema de detección de movimiento de calor basado en Internet" written by O. Palma, M. Ceballos, V. Reyes, C. Basto and Boris Barzallo from the GITEL research group. (1st place in the EMBS category)

"4 x 4 MIMO basado en QSTBC y con codificación Alamouti y FEC". (Based on QSTBC codes whit Alamouti Codification and FEC) by F. Rocha, P. Túquerrez1, V. Soria, Germán Arévalo, C. Gómez, from the GIETEC research group. (1st place in the communications category - COMSOC).
