The project titled "Chusku Kana, servir para liberarte" created by Paola López, Jonathan Paredes, Lisbeth Molina and Andrés Villareal, will represent the university in the Hult Prize International event which gathers university students from around the world so they can present innovative solutions to several social problems.

The project seeks to create a biodigester to produce gas by using organic waste, from which it is possible to obtain Biol (natural fertilizer) when it decomposes. Part of the project is also to create a web platform to interconnect industries that promote environmental awareness, and link them to the project through management, transportation of organic resources, communication management and green marketing.

Students from the university's branch campus in Quito presented nine projects: Health and energy, Ecostation, Electro innovation, a beverage made from Vaccinium meridionale, solar energy and Maexpro.

Since 2009 the "Hult Prize" foundation presents a global challenge for students by awarding the winning team a considerable prize. To participate in the seminifinal at the Hult Castle in the United Kingdom, the members of the Chusku Kuna team will compete with the other qualified national proposals for the next phase. The final will be held in the city of New York, United States.
