Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2019

Times Higher Education (THE) has included Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) in the 2019 University Impact Ranking. The world university ranking reveals a new hierarchy of global institutions based on universities' work toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In this first edition of the University Impact Ranking, UPS ranked 201 – 300. The result is based on the university's performance in sustainable development and being able to reach goals such as:

ODS 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth

ODS 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

ODS 4 - Quality Education

ODS 5 - Gender Equality

ODS 17 - Partnership for the Goals

THE congratulated UPS; "the university has demonstrated commitment not only in supporting the goals of sustainable development through teaching, research and knowledge transfer, but also by incorporating the goals in practices, policies and internal procedures of the institution, as well as providing evidence of its activities".

In this edition, THE included over 450 universities from 76 countries and evaluated their efforts to increase the effectiveness of development in higher education institutions based on specific indicators to provide integral and equitable comparisons in three areas: research, dissemination and administration.

For UPS it is important to be ranked among the best universities in Ecuador and show its contribution to sustainable development of society through community engagement projects, research, its professors, the implementation of teaching methods supported by technology, projects with national and international institutions to improve teaching and other initiatives.
