The UPS-Cuenca biomedical engineering (GIIB) and artificial intelligence (GIIATa) research groups presented the results of their research during the International Congress on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence- ICRAI 2016.  The congress was held in Los Angeles, USA and indexed to SCOPUS. The university's researchers presented two articles, one which was done with the help of an electronic engineering student.

The first paper titled "Redes Neuronales y Algoritmos genéticos aplicados para la implementación del Modelo de Administración Triple A en una cadena de suministro, Caso: Centro de Acopio de Leche Cruda en la provincia del Azuay" was written by Juan Pablo Bermeo Moyano from the GIIB research group with the help of professors Hilda Castillo Correa and Santiago Serrano, from the accounting and business majors.

The second paper, from the GIIATA research group, titled "Entrenador digital para el desarrollo de la capacidad motora fina en niños con parálisis cerebral", was presented by UPS student Jonnathan Berrezueta Guzman, who represented professors Vladimir Robles, Eduardo Pinos and Luis Serpa, co-authors.
