UPS held a conference on telecommunications to celebrate internet day

The students IEEE Communications Society , the IEEE Student Branch in Cuenca, with the support of the Electronic Engineering major, organized the First Telecommunication Conference as part of Internet Day. 

The UPS General Vice President, Luis Tobar Pesántez, opened the program by welcoming attendees, he then congratulated the students' initiative and encouraged them to keep up this type of academic events.

The first conference was given by UPS professor Walter Orozco, Ph.D, who presented the results of his research on the topic: "Hybrid adaptive beamformers and Neural -Fuzzy logic in Smart arrays " whose field of application is the development of new algorithms applied to smart antennas .
 
Through a video conference, the first Ecuadorian astronaut Ronnie Nader, shared views on Ecuadorian immersion in the space age, showing how telecommunications has been a mainstay in this process. He finished his talk by giving a chronological overview of all the projects he has worked in during his life as an astronaut. 

UPS professor Jack Bravo, PhD, analyzed the use of virtual nodes in vehicular networks, where he showed the results of his research in the field of telecommunications. He also talked about the projects he is currently carrying out as a member of the GITEL research group.
 
Ana Piedra, representative of the Telecommunications Regulations and Control Agency (ARCOTEL for its acronym in Spanish), spoke about the process of radio and television frequencies. 

Finally, there was a talk given by two students from Escuela Politécnica del Chimborazo (ESPOCH) who are part of the project called CHASKIEEE, which is a program that promotes student exchanges between universities and whose main objective is to have a closer contact between universities and share results of research projects carried out in these universities.   
With these conferences the UPS held an academic dialogue on the importance and usefulness of telecommunications in our society by presenting the work of its researchers and offering its students quality training.
