The UNESCO chairs in our branch campus in Guayaquil held an event titled “Assertion of women’s participation in society”; the aim was to encourage the participation of women in society. The event was attended by special guests who spoke about their professional and academic experiences.

The event not only stressed the importance of empowerment for women in several fields, but also the importance of having opportunities to disseminate and promote research led by women.

Emilia Murillo, teacher at “Unidad Educativa Cuatro de Enero”, spoke about the importance of making women’s work visible. Ivi Criollo, president of the NGO “Voces del Autismo Ecuador”, stressed the need for academia to promote events especially for women, to guarantee the development of future generations.

Alice Naranjo, coordinator of the UNESCO Chairs, highlighted the exchange of ideas between participants, their commitment to promoting female participation in society and encouraging girls to venture into research.

The event was not only an opportunity to reflect on the progress and challenges in terms of gender equality, but also to promote actions that contribute to building a more equal future full of opportunities for all women.

The cooperation between the UNESCO Chair and women's groups represents a significant step towards achieving a more inclusive and equitable society. The event inspired the university community to continue promoting the participation of women in all areas of society. Let´s continue building a future where gender equality becomes a reality.
