“Crespi The Musical”
“Crespi The Musical”

The play “Crespi, the Musical” was a great success during its nine showings; it had over 90 people on stage, singers, actors, dancers, a choir and great scenography.
The play told the story of Salesian priest Carlos Crespi Croci, who arrived to Ecuador in 1923 on missionary work. He then settled in the city of Cuenca, where he founded the school of Arts and Crafts, which was the start of salesian education in our city. After a fire in the school building, Tecnico Salesiano high school and Carlos Crespi school were founded.
Father Carlos Crespi was known by everyone in the city of Cuenca, he worked hard to help the poorest people in the city, especially children and teens.
To honor this servant of God, Universidad Politecnica Salesiana’s branch campus in Cuenca thought it was appropriate to pay tribute to Carlos Crespi and so worked together with Jhonny Vallejo, a musician from Cuenca, to put on this show.
Carlos Crespi was interpreted by Priotr Salamea, an actor from Cuenca, the music and lyrics were written by Jhonny Vallejo Yepez, the scenography was created by Ximena Abril and the general production by Luis Alvarez Rodas.
