The “Carneros” men’s rugby team and the “Carneras” women’s rugby team won first place in the 13th edition of the “Copa Don Bosco” Rugby Seven Tournament, which was held in our branch campus in Cuenca. There were 10 teams that took part in this tournament.

Father Juan Cárdenas Tapia, UPS president, and Pierre Magnas, President of the Ecuadorian Rugby Federation attended the inauguration of the event. In his speech, Juan Cardenas invited participants to enjoy an experience that goes beyond the competition, it is an opportunity to strengthen ties between teams. Magnas spoke about the excellent organization of the tournament and the importance of bringing together teams from all over the country under the support of the Ecuadorian Rugby Federation.

 
The matches began after the opening ceremony. In the men's category, Carneros defeated Gladiadores 33-28 in the final. Gladiadores B won third place by beating Cerberos 19-12 in another close match.

 
In the women's category, the Carneras team stood out with a great performance, they won three games and tied one. Jíbaras won second place with two wins, one draw and one loss. Panteras RC won third place. Juan Carlos Cordovilla from Carneros and Diana Viteri from Panteras RC were named the best players of the tournament.
