From the 1st to the 3rd of December our branch campus in Quito held the 2nd Smart Tech Conference (Smart Tech 2021) with the participation of speakers from Ecuador, Spain, USA, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. The conference was attended by engineering students and professors from our three branch campuses in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. 


30 papers were presented during the conference and 20 as e-posters. The conference was accepted as part of the Communications in Computer and Information Science series from Springer; the papers will be indexed to data bases such as Scopus, DBLP, Google Scholar, El-Compendex, Mathematical Reviews, SCImago, and others. 


Fabian Narvaez, academic coordinator of the event and the director of the biomedicine undergraduate program, explained speakers presented several studies and research results on technology and science from different perspectives. It was an international academic event. 


Juan Cardenas, UPS president, stated that it is imperative to learn about everything related to smart technologies in different areas such as education and health because they help solve society’s needs. 


German Corredor, from Case Western Reserve University in the USA, spoke about the importance of Smart Tech 2021 and how it enables students to learn about projects, studies research and ideas that can be developed with the use of technological tools in order to improve people’s lives.
