Our branch campus in Cuenca celebrated the 30th anniversary of the mechanical engineering undergraduate program by holding the 2nd symposium on mechanical engineering (SIMEC 2024), which was attended by representatives from several industries as well as academia. 

For three decades, this program has left a mark and has educated professionals who have contributed to the development of local industries, research centers and innovative ventures. Engineers educated at UPS are distinguished by their knowledge in basic sciences and their specialization in key areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical design, and other areas.

The II Mechanical Engineering Symposium (SIMEC 2024) was an opportunity to learn about the most recent advances in the field, bringing the challenges of the industry closer to the academic community. Prominent national and international professors spoke about their experience and knowledge on the latest trends in mechanical engineering, including topics such as: new manufacturing processes and artificial intelligence.

During the formal celebration, university officials awarded recognitions to companies, educational institutions, rectors, former vice-rectors, and directors for their continuous support to the success of the program. An important tribute was paid to Valeriano Gavinelli Bovio, who played a fundamental role in the foundation of this program.
