On May 6th and 7th, our branch campus in Quito held a fair titled “The power of museums” which was attended by students, professors and the general public. 

The event was part of the commemoration of International Museum Day and is promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). In Quito, it was organized by Quito’s Museum System and the Network of Museums.

The Abya Yala museum was the host of this event; the aim was to create public interest and pick up its activities as they were before the pandemic.
During the fair, there were some cultural activities such as the presentation of the university’s Ecuadorian dance group and the modern dance group, the police dog training school and the dance group of made up elderly people.

The participants were: Museos del Centro Cultural PUCE; ICOM Ecuador; Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad; Leyendas Nocturnas; Museo de Historia Natural Gustavo Orcés; Museo Policial; Museo de la Ciudad; Sistema Integrado de Museos y Herbarios de la UCE; Museos del Instituto Metropolitano de Patrimonio; Museo Casa Carlota Jaramillo; Museo de Arte Colonial; Museo del Carmen Alto; Museo Interactivo de Ciencia; Fundación Iglesia de la Compañía; Museo Archivo de Arquitectura del Ecuador; La Cuchara Orgánica and Museo Abya Yala - UPS.
