Our branch campus in Guayaquil held a new event during its traditional Cultural Wednesday program; this time it was the “Ayawayra” group which performed several choreographies based on Ecuadorian customs and traditions from different regions.

The bands "Chumichasqui" and "Escala Sur" were also invited to perform and they put on a great show of live music.  There was also a talk on how academia, science and art contribute to university students’ integral education. The speakers were professors Francisco Caamaño Acosta, Jhon Ávila, and the director of the Katharsis theater group, Gabriel Gallardo.

Gallardo stressed the importance of art as a pedagogical tool that develops essential soft skills for students’ professional and human development, "art is a pedagogical tool, which allows the development of soft skills, that are important for the correct development of professionals from all areas”, he said.

Jazmín Rizzo, director of the “Ayawayra” group, said “this Cultural Wednesday event included Latin American rhythms such as cumbia and saya. Our guests Chumichasqui and Escala Sur played live, providing an exceptional musical experience for everyone who attended”.
