Agreement between CCPID-G and UPS to benefit vulnerable groups
Our branch campus in Guayaquil signed two inter institutional agreements with Guayaquil's Council for the Integral Protection of Rights (CCPID-G for its acronym in Spanish) in order to work for the protection of people´s rights in Guayaquil.
Both agreements are aimed at working on issues such as disabilities, violence and child laboour. The agreements will also enable psychology students to carry out pre professional practice.
These activities will benefit vulnerable groups from several sectors of the city through community practices, community engagement projects and different actions that will be developed by future mental health professionals.
The signing of the agreements was attended by Raul Alvarez, vice president of our branch campus in Guayaquil; Jaime Zapata, academic coordinator; Stalyn Paz, director of the psychology undergraduate program; Luzmila Nicolaide, town councilor of Guayaquil; and Vicente Torres, representative of CCPID-G.
Raúl Álvarez, said "UPS and these institutions have something in common, which is to help the community".
Luzmila Nicolalde spoke about the importance of giving opportunities to young people who want to have an opportunity in the labor market, "We have had the joy of having young people who always come with fresh ideas and the desire to learn or discover more than what they study. We are happy to have psychology students; they will be received very well at the institution".
These programs are expected to improve the quality of children, adolescents, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
