Breastfeeding rooms in our branch campus in Quito

On the 24th and 25th of October, the "El GIron" and "Sur" campus in Quito inaugurated the Breastfeeding Room as part of the university's commitment to society, to favor women's health and to support the development maternity of the university's workers and students.
The event was organized by the HR department and attended by Jose Juncosa, vice president of our branch campus in Quito; Guillermo Pillajo, director of the HR department; Jose Galarraga, director of the health district; Fernanda Chagueza, district director; Daniela Ochoa, UPS professor; and Karla Altamirano, president of the students federation.
Professor Ochoa, who is conducting research on breastfeeding practices in Ecuador, spoke about the problems that mothers have to face at work and in academia due to the lack of time and a place where mothers can breastfeed.
"Maternity should be favored by institutions that encourage women's health, there should be laws and places that enable the development of maternity and breastfeeding", she said
Altamirano thanked university officials for their support to create these rooms; Jose Juncosa said this demonstrates the university's commitment towards women and children
