Students: Torres Andrea and Murillo Tatiana
Environmental engineering and Natural Resources Biotechnology students from the university's branch campus in Cuenca presented scientific posters that show the progress or the conclusions of their research work:
- "Cambio climático y el Fitomejoramiento"
- "Flora del Bosque Protector Aguarongo"
- "Agricultura Urbana, paisajismo, contaminación y cambio climático"
This academic event was held in the Coworking office and was attended by a great number of students and professors. This semester students worked with professor Fredi Portilla, PhD in Agro-environmental Technologies by Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. There were a total of 50 scientific posters that were presented during three sessions during two days.
The aim of this event was to present relevant information regarding the aforementioned topics and their impact in the national or international context.
A transcendental issue that implies renunciation of excesses and greater care of nature, as well as mitigation measures that must be implemented especially in cities, such as the contribution of urban agriculture as a source of food, landscape and capture of carbon.
It is worth highlighting the posters on plant breeding and climate change, which from a perspective of constructive criticism, addressed issues such as transgenics, in vitro cloning, agrochemicals, pest and disease control, and biogenetic engineering and its counterpart with bioethics.
18 bibliographic works were also carried out with different species of the Aguarongo Forest, whose field and laboratory experiments, to be held next semester, will cover the active principles and their application in the area of human health, animal, industry, Cosmetics and food safety.
The research is possible thanks to the work of the Biotechnology and Environment Research Group (Grupo de Investigación en Biotecnología y Ambiente (INBIAM) , which is coordinated by Fredi Portilla.
