First anniversary of the university's Psychological Center

Our branch campus in Cuenca celebrated the first anniversary of its Psychological Center with special ceremony that was attended by university officials, professors, students and guests from the university community. UPS president, Father Juan Cardenas Tapia, explained the importance of the center and its service to the community.
The university acknowledged the center’s commitment and effort in providing quality psychological care to people from Cuenca. The center opened on May 23, 2024, as a joint initiative of the Psychology and Clinical Psychology majors in order to address society's growing mental health needs.
During its first year, the Psychological Center has served 303 people who needed support and guidance for issues such as anxiety, depression, family conflicts, communication difficulties, and couples therapy. Teenagers have been the most frequent users, which show the need of having specialized attention for this group.
The center has also strengthened its academic ties with psychology programs, integrating real-life case studies and community engagement projects that enrich students’ education. In response to growing demand, the university inaugurated a third clinical office, which means greater service capacity to care for the emotional well-being of the community.
