Our branch campus in Guayaquil held a Folk dance festival during its traditional cultural Wednesday program. People enjoyed a mix of art, dance and theater with the presentation of local and national groups. 

There were presentations of dance and music from the Ecuadorian coast, highlands and amazon region. The aim of the event was to promote cultural diversity.

The dance groups that performed were: Grupo Iberoamericano, el semillero del Espíritu Andino, Alianza costeña and groups from ESPOL and UNEMI.

Jazmin Rizzo, instructor of the ASU Ayawayra group, thanked all the groups who performed. “The idea is to promote this art no matter the age, we can all do it. It also strengthens peoples ties and creates networks”. 

Guadalupe Aguilar, member of the Ayawara group, spoke the importance of having these activities. “It is important to communicate our traditions and show our country’s richness”.
