Graduation ceremony in Quito

A graduation ceremony was held in the university's branch campus in Quito for 52 students who successfully completed their studies in: computer engineering, electronic engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering and management and leadership. One of the graduates was Paul Naikiai Jintiach from the Shuar community, from the Salesian Missions Bomboiza; Paul lived in the university residency during his entire studies. Luis Andrango, from the community of Turucu-Eloy Alfaro  who is a former director of the indigenous organization FENOCIN, also graduated and was awared his degree in Management and Leadership. 

Naikiai spoke on behalf of the graduates and was very thankful with UPS for his human and professional education. He acknowledged everyone who helps in the university residency, where he lived for over five years. "That place was my home, today we say farewell to this beautiful university and begin a new stage as professionals. Here we learned the true meaning of friendship, union, solidarity and trust", he said.

During the ceremony, the vice president of the university's branch in Quito, Jose Juncosa, congratulated the new professionals and highlighted the importance of salesian education in our contexts. "Above all, we seek to educate creative engineers who are capable of establishing their own business, entrepreneurs and not only future employees. UPS is a university that breaks preconceptions and creates an environment that is full of opportunities. More and more people join this university, there are now 58 research groups made up by 270 professors and 165 students who have given research an identity", he said

The director of the electronic engineering study program, spoke about the importance of the human element for professionals. "The human element defines us, it reinforces trust, commitment and responsibility. You have an important mission in society and this mission will be fulfilled by your behavior".

The ceremony was attended by Jose Juncosa, vice president of the university's branch in Quito, Patsy Prieto, director of computer engineering; German Arevalo director of civil engineering; Patricia Pazmiño, director of environmental engineering; Ramon Perez, director of electronic engineering; Tania Chicaiza, director of management and leadership; as well as graduates' family and friends.
