The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) branch in our branch campus in Cuenca celebrated its 15th Anniversary by holding a formal meeting in the university’s theater which was attended by university officials, professors, students and the IEEE community. 

Fernando Urgiles, UPS professor, spoke about the history of IEEE and stressed its outstanding work during these 15 years. He talked about how the activities in the IEEE branch began, he acknowledged a group of students who majored in Electrical and Electronic Engineering who were the promoters of the creation of the IEEE branch, whose aim is permanent professional updating, research, the development and implementation of new technologies through training, innovation, research and collaboration.

 
He also thanked university officials for their permanent support which has made the growth of the IEEE branch possible. The growth has been possible due to the dedication and great work that each of the students and teachers have done. They will always uphold their principles and be committed to creating technology for the benefit of humanity.

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, congratulated students and professors who have been part of the IEEE branch in Cuenca for all their work and stressed that the branch is recognized nationally and internationally. 

Juan Cardenas, UPS president, spoke about the importance of the IEEE student branch for what it means, for what it does and what it represents for the university.
