Industrial engineering students visited Salinas de Guaranda

Industrial engineering students from our branch campus in Guayaquil visited Salinas de Guaranda in order to strengthen their learning process and learn more about production processes in several industries. They analyzed manufacturing systems, quality control, and production efficiency in sectors such as dairy, textile, food and mining extraction.
They took a tour of a dairy factory to observe quality control processes in the production of cheeses and other products. They also visited an artisanal chocolate plant, where they learned about temperature, food safety and process optimization. In the textile plant, which manufactures threads and wool products, they discussed the efficiency of the machines and the management of mass production. They also visited a sausage and essential oils plant and explored the historic salt mine, to evaluate the extraction and processing methods.
For Bryan Delgado Salazar, community tour guide, this visit is an opportunity to strengthen learning and the relationship between industry and academia: “Salinas is known for its industries. People come to visit the dairy and textiles Companies and our workers and students share experiences and prepare for their professional activities.”
Melany Cantos Ruiz, student, stressed the importance of innovation based on traditional knowledge: “Traditional knowledge is used to innovate and create new production chains for quality products.”
To learn about the industrial reality of Salinas allowed students to identify opportunities for improvement and evaluate the viability of implementing innovative technologies that optimize production in the region.
