Law students had a meeting with judges from the National Court of Justice

Students from our branch campus in Quito who are majoring in law took part in a meeting with female judges and associate judges of the National Court of Justice. The meeting was titled: "From Students to National Judges: The Path of Women in the Ecuadorian Justice System." Students were able to learn about the work of the country's judicial authorities and have a valuable exchange of ideas and experiences.
The future lawyers presented their thoughts on the role of women in the Ecuadorian judicial system. Law students from several universities in the country (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), Universidad Central del Ecuador (UCE) and Universidad de las Américas (UDLA)) also attended. Anahí Vinueza and Nicole Sánchez represented our university (UPS).
For Nicole Sánchez, the experience was extremely enriching: “I had the opportunity to exchange ideas with criminal and labor judges, who explained their challenges and journeys as lawyers. As students about to graduate, having talked to judges is essential to understanding the challenges and obstacles we will face”
The event was attended by prominent officials from the National Court of Justice, such as Dr. Daniela Camacho, member of the Specialized Criminal Chamber, and Katerine Muñoz, member of the Specialized Labor Chamber. During the meeting, they did a simulation of the plenary session.
