The university's automotive mechanical engineering major inaugurated the First National Congress on Automotive Mechanical Engineering, which they titled "A Country on Wheels" (Un país sobre ruedas), on Wednesday, May 20th in the university's Padre Carlos Crespi Theater. 

Local officials along with UPS Prresident Javier Herran attended the opening ceremony; Father Javier said "we don't always need machines to solve problems, we always need ingenuity. May this congress be full of studies, happiness and strengthening of the Ecuadorian University."  

Cristian Garcia, director of the automotive mechanical engineering faculty, said the aim of the event is to present tendencies and challenges in automotive engineering in different disciplines in Ecuador and that the Congress is a great opportunity to share experiences and find solutions to current problems in society through innovation, technology and the products being presented by participating universities.  The aim is also to promote excellence in automotive engineering through cooperation and create networks among attendees.
