Our branch campus in Guayaquil presented 3 new books on psychology and pedagogy written by its professors and published by the university’s Abya Yala publishing house.

The presentation was attended by Juan Cardenas, UPS president; Fernando Pesantez, general vice president; Raul Alvarez, vice president in our branch campus in Guayaquil; the authors, special guests and the university community.

UPS president Juan Cardenas congratulated the authors and said “Launching books makes our university happy because it means it is dynamic and it shows professors’ commitment to rethink our pedagogical practices and also to account for all the inputs and the instruments from evaluative psychology”.

The three books are:

•    La pedagogía decolonial y los desafíos de la colonialidad del saber. Una propuesta epistémica. By Johan Méndez Reyes.

•    Psicología de la educación By Stalyn Paz Guerra and Bernardo Peña Herrera.

•    Fundamentos de la evaluación psicológica. By Stalyn Paz Guerra and Bernardo Peña Herrera.

Nandy García Aular, a research professor at Universidad Nacional Experimental Rafael María Baralt, spoke about the book "La pedagogía decolonial y los desafíos de la colonialidad del saber". She stressed the importance of the book and stated that: "This proposal is very important in order to develop another pedagogy and a different way of being able to consolidate the epistemic construction of knowledge, this work has been expanded for some time by the author, the book is structured in three chapters that have a coherent and logical structure of decolonial thought Latin America".

Darwin Hidalgo Sotomayor, UPS professor and Coordinator of DECE District 9, was in charge of presenting the book, "Psicología de la educación". He said the book addresses strategies and methodologies that teachers can use within the system, it also addresses all life cycles, from childhood to adulthood in all its principles. He stated that "a current problem of the system is that teachers are increasingly atheoretical and this book makes a very good journey on all currents of theoretical thought”.

The book entitled, "Fundamentos de la evaluación psicológica", was presented by Carolina Andrade who said that: “The book has several aspects that make it necessary for psychology students to have in their library”.

"As teachers we know that knowledge is a valued asset for all of us in academia. Therefore, we appreciate every contribution that you make in the name of science because it will be our students and the community that will benefit from the research you carry out. I invite you to continue creating productions that strengthen our students’ professional work, which is the basis for new research," said Raúl Álvarez, vice president in our branch campus in Guayaquil
