UPS-Cuenca presented the "Young Scientists" Project which is aimed at 11 and 12 year old children that would like to learn more about the world of science and technology through science and robotic workshops, building and programming with lego mindstorms EV3.

UPS President Javier Herran said that signing the diplomas of those who start and then end the "Young Scientists" project is very special; he also said that it is very important for UPS to provide this type of program so that boys and girls can become familiar with science and technology.

Viviana Cabrera and Monica Romero, coordinators of the program, explained that children will have four weeks of personalized teaching for two hours a day. The approach will foster the use of ICTs, cooperative learning, experimentation and learning assessments. The material used in the workshops will guarantee the learning process; participants will get a lego mindstorms kit and a multimedia guide.

A special ceremony was held for students from Fransisca Davila school who ended the workshops and were awarded certificates. The students and the school principal, Raquel Loyola, were pleased and happy for having finished the program and getting a certificate since it represents the effort they have made during the project.
