Our branch campus in Cuenca was recognized as a 100% smoke free space and the cafes in the food court as places with nutritional responsibility. The certifications were awarded by the Ministry of Public Health.  

 
The idea of private institutions - companies to take part in the process of having 100% smoke free spaces respond to a proposal led by the National Department of Health, which seeks that the Health Governance (application of the Organic Law for the Regulation and Control of Tobacco) develop an institutional and citizen commitment in health promotion such as 100% smoke-free spaces. 

 
After an inspection process by delegates from the Ministry of Health, who check that the institutions meet some health promotion criteria to create awareness on the benefits of quitting smoking, as well as reviewing health regulations. 

 
The recognition of Nutritional Responsibility for restaurants, bars and cafes is a strategy of the Ministry of Public Health that seeks to implement health promotion actions to customers for the consumption of water, vegetables and healthy food overall.
