Our branch campus in Cuenca presented the book: “Tos por Covid-19: Caracterización desde la Inteligencia Artificial”, coordinated by Cristian Salamea, professor – researcher of the electronics engineering undergraduate program, along with Tarquino Sanchez, Xavier Calderon, president of Escuela Politecnica Nacional, and Javier Guaña, professor of Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador.

The book has five chapters; it provides a detailed analysis of the procedure, methodology and results of research related to audible cough samples using machine-learning techniques.  Filtering systems were used to isolate the cough signal from any external sound interference; as well as pre-trained intelligent models used to characterize cough as a symptom of COVID-19.

The book not only represents a very valuable contribution to research, it can also be used as a tool and a guide for future projects in the fields of computing, electric and electronic systems, and more.
