The university's branch campus in Cuenca held a training session for students who will become tutoring assistants. The aim of this program is to strengthen knowledge and skills of senior year students while they help first year students.
Professors who are in charge of this project explained students how the project will work and gave them some techniques so they can efficiently go about their work.
Professor Fernando Solorzano spoke to students about strategies for collaborative learning while professors Rosalba Pesantez and Miguel Pulla explained how the tutoring sessions will be organized and the logistics. Cristian San Martín, student, spoke about how to monitor students work.
This program is in charge of the business administration and accounting undergraduate programs and is part of a project titled "Improving the passing rate and learning results of math and accounting".
Vinicio Ordoñez, explained how that the project will be led by senior year students and coordinated by a professor who will provide assistance. This program will help first year students in the adaptation, integration and learning process.
The basis of the program is that students will be taught by other students, peers, classmates, which will create more empathy. Additionally, it reinforces learning for senior year students. These projects are being encouraged by the university's academic department and are aimed at educational innovation.
