Students from the computer science program in our branch campus in Quito won first place in a competition titled “improving customer experience with AI solutions”. The competition was organized by Banco Pichincha and AWS, the aim was that university students find solutions to problems by using artificial intelligence. The winners were: Andrew Rueda, Adrián Villacrés, Juan Angamarca and Alex Terreros.

During the competition, students solved several problems where they had to implement artificial intelligence in a fictional business called Unicorn Rentals. The challenges had different levels of difficulty: easy, medium and difficult. To advance and obtain points, participants divided the activities since scoring was done in real time, rewarding those who solved the problems the fastest.

"Personally, it was a great experience. Being under pressure pushed us to look for practical solutions using AWS tools, such as Bedrock and Cloud9. The environment of the contest was very pleasant and we are happy and proud to have won. We all contributed equally and the entire team obtained a great recognition", said Andrew Rueda.

Adrián Villacrés: "As a contest, it was a very pleasant and challenging experience. We had to solve activities with different levels of difficulty and handle the pressure of seeing the results in real time. I am very happy for having won the contest.”
