Students presented the play: “Sinfonía de la Creación”

Guayaquil, viernes 23 agosto 2024

Students from the cultural groups in our branch campus in Guayaquil presented the play “Sinfonia de la Creación”. The play addresses topics of great spiritual, sociopolitical and environmental value. It invites the public to reflect on the relationship between humanity and nature, as well as the need to preserve our environment.

It is inspired by the Gospel of Creation from the Encyclical Laudato si and the National Congress of the Salesian Youth Movement. The pay is about the transformation of a successful businessman after a meeting with environmental activists and affected communities. The story shows his process of change, especially after a tragic incident involving his daughter.

Father Juan Cárdenas Tapia, UPS president, congratulated students for their outstanding participation and invited the university community to be part of the cultural events. “Students’ talent was greatly appreciated by everyone; the message of the play was deep and made us reflect on our relationship with nature and God's creation. I congratulate everyone for this great play,” he said.

The play begins with a powerful representation of creation through dance, stressing the sacred connection that ancestral people have with Mother Earth. Accompanied by natural sounds that provides the audience with a multi-sensory experience, the play combines music, dance and acting to show the importance of conscious responsibility towards the environment.

The play  is a call to action, inviting viewers to become agents of change committed to protecting the planet and to reflect on how small individual changes can have a positive impact on building a more sustainable and fair world.
