Talk: Theater and academia

Theater is one of the oldest and most popular artistic manifestations in the world, it transmits values, ideas and messages to society. Therefore, teaching theater can be very valuable for people’s integral development, especially for teenagers.
In this context, the university held a talk titled “Theater and academia” which was organized by the “Casa del Teatro” Theater Association to celebrate World Theater Day. Gabriel Gallardo, instructor of the Salesian theater group “Katharsis” from our branch campus in Guayaquil, was one of the speakers.
Gabriel Gallardo, spoke about the work carried out by the university regarding theater, as it is one of the higher education institutions that has encouraged teaching theater in order to help students develop other important skills such as social, emotional and cognitive skills, as well as values like respect, tolerance and empathy, which are needed for any professional field.
The other speakers were Johnny Shapiro (ESPOL), Marina Salvarezza (Casa Grande), Marcelo Leyton (U-Artes); the moderator was Héctor Garzón.
