The information and communication technologies for disabilities research group (TICAD for its acronym in Spanish) and the Unesco Chairs program assistive technologies for inclusive education in our branch campus in Guayaquil and Fundación Margarita Enderton held talks on the prevention of diseases. The speaker was Dr. Luis Perlaza, representative of Nature Sunshine.

Students majoring in Biomedicine and computer science presented projects such as prosthetic arms and other electronic devices to help improve people’s lives. 

Nayeli Muñoz, student majoring in computing, said “the talk on prevention of diseases presented some of the research results from the TICAD research group like the prosthetic arm, tools to help people with visual impairment  and 3D printing.

They also presented strategies to improve people’s health and create a culture of healthy lifestyles in order to reduce diseases which can then turn into disabilities.
