Biotechnology is not a new field of study, it is progressing rapidly and it increasingly has more uses in everyday life: from pharmaceutical development to food production or the treatment of polluting waste. Therefore, the event titled: "Biotechnology of colors" was carried out by the Biotechnology undergraduate program in Cuenca.

The aim of the event was to promote academic spaces that allow people to know the advantages and the importance that this multidisciplinary area offers through the presentation of conferences that focused on topics related to Biotechnology.

The topics were:

• Red Biotechnology: Molecular Oncology and Study of the characterization and therapeutic effects of fluorescent antifibrotic extracellular vesicles.

• Green biotechnology: Plant biotechnology.

• White biotechnology: Algae, the biofactories of the future.

• Green and white biotechnology: In vitro production and identification of plant secondary metabolites.

The event was held online and attended by several experts form national and international universities. The following biotechnology graduates also attended: Jorge Quevedo, Patricio Orozco, Paúl Arévalo, Danielle Novillo and Mateo León.

Finally, Ines Malo, director of the biotechnology undergraduate program, thanked the speakers, professors and students for taking part of this event.
