The UPS-Cuenca Women's Soccer Team"Carneras" will play in the Ecuadorian First Division Women's League after defeating teams like Palmas, Nustas and ESPE and coming in second place in last weekend's championship played in Santo Domingo. 

The "Carneras" first victory came against "Palmas" who they beat 3-2 in great match. The Carneras played their second match on Saturday night against another team from the city of Cuenca, "Ñustas", who they beat 5-1. With these two victories which meant six points, the salesian soccer team made it to the first division of the Ecuadorian Women's League. After these victories, the players, the coaching team, family members and everyone else who has worked with the team celebrated the achievement. 

The Carneras faced ESPE in the final game of this tournament and lost 1-0 in very well played match. Carneras Coach Edison Méndez was very excited for having achieved this goal after two years of great effort which has been possible thanks to the players' perseverance and the support from university officials. He said that now that they have made it to the firsts division, their next goal is to classify to the Women's Copa Libertadores tournament. 

He finished by congratulating and thanking all the players for their hard work, commitment and doing their best at every game.
