Training sessions for academic advisors of the LALA project

On May 27th , 55 academic advisors who are part of the Learning Analytics Latin America (LALA) project in our branch campus in Quito attended training sessions to learn more about how to improve quality, efficiency and relevance of higher education by developing skills to adapt, implement and adopt tools that will improve academic processes.

 

Floralba Aguilar, academic coordinator, welcomed participants and congratulated them for their work on supporting students. Jaime Chela, director of the university’s pastoral department, spoke about Don Bosco’s preventive system based on sympathy and about the need to guide students in building their future. 

 

Maria Jose Boada, coordinator of the “P. Emilio Gambirasio” psychology center, presented the topic: “A university that listens to and guides students” and spoke about the importance of creating relationships that can help students, the creation of support groups and the idea of creating a psychology center in “Sur” campus. 

 

Pablo Vasquez, coordinator of the project in “El Giron” campus, presented the topic “how to optimize and take advantage of the information in the LALA platform”. He spoke about how to review data, general access to tools and observations of the system. 

 

Carmita Coronado, professor, stated that this platform is a mediation tool, it allows to analyze students’ learning process and improve. It is a process of continuous improvement.
