The “San Bartolo” continuing education center, Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) and the Ecuadorian Salesian Project “PSE” signed cooperation agreements to carry out social service programs. The agreement was signed by Father Marcelo Farfan, inspector of salesians; Father Juan Cardenas, president of UPS; and Father Esteban Ortiz, in charge of the Ecuadorian Salesian Project.

Juan Cardenas stressed the importance of this agreement since it benefits one of the most significant projects of the Salesian Congregation. “This agreement will benefit less privileged people, the “PSE” is located in seven cities and it attends 5,000 children and teens in vulnerable situations. The university supports the development of projects that prevent and protect children and educate people to create their own businesses”, he said.

Father Esteban Ortiz presented some of the achievements of the Ecuadorian Salesian Project (PSE) and thanked the university for all its support. “The aim of the PSE is to help with the integral development of children, teens and families in vulnerable situations in Quito, San Lorenzo, Ambato, Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo and Guayaquil with the participation of professors and students”, he said.

Father Marcelo Farfan said “we want to help reduce social exclusion so young people can become men and women who contribute to change society”.

This meeting was attended by Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito; Raul Alvarez, vice president of our branch campus in Guayaquil; Edgar Gordillo, director of PACES; Father Marcelo Tigrero, vicar of the community of Casa Don Rúa; educators from Esmeraldas, Ambato, Guayaquil and Quito, directors of several undergraduate programs.
