Since the 20th of January the university's branch campus in Quito has been holding several activities to commemorate Don Bosco; there has been artistic, academic, sport and cultural programs such as the 7th University Dance Festival, Eucharist celebrations, academic forums and sports competitions with the participation of university officials, students, professors and administrative staff.

Salesian institutions celebrate Don Bosco every January 31st and this year the organizers were people from "El Giron" campus, its accounting major and the communication and culture department; in "El Sur" campus it was the computer engineering major; in the "Kennedy" campus there was an Eucharist celebration with the university's dance and choir groups.

Father Juan Bottaso presided the celebration in "El Giron" campus, he told people about Don Bosco's life and the Salesian Preventive System used in teaching – learning processes. Mercedes Zapata, director of the accounting and auditing major, said that the purpose of salesian institutions is that young people feel and live in family environment with happiness and trust.

After the celebration, students attended the Dance Festival which was attended by: Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN); Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE); Universidad de las Américas (UDLA); Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) and UPS. The categories were ballroom dance, urban dance, modern dance, contemporary and Arab dance.
The aim of the festival was to promote art and culture among university students, as well as invite students to join the clubs and take part in sports and cultural activities.

The Pastoral department, on the other hand, held a forum titled "The political dimension of faith" in the "El Giron" and "Sur" campus, the speakers were Fernando Villegas, Ph.., Davide Matrone, Julián García and Vicente Plasencia, the moderators were Pablo Rivera and Carmita Coronado.

Finally, the physical education department organized a weight lifting exhibition and an interuniversity volleyball competition with the following universities: PUCE, UCE, EPN and UPS
